Unum has always had problems getting checks out on time around the holidays, and sometimes for no reason. Recently, checks haven’t been released on time and I’m getting quite a few calls about it.
If your check is late, call your rep and ask, “When can I expect to receive my benefit?” Don’t say, “Why haven’t I received my benefit?” This opens up the door to other discussions, and besides we don’t want to know “why”, but only “when” you will receive it.
But yes, Unum does seem to have problems getting checks out on time. You may want to know that no other disability insurer has that problem.
We can now add late checks to the long list of other things Unum seems to be “late” with including sending out letters on the date they were written.
