I’ve finally completed the first 106 pages of my book entitled, “From Lightouse to the World, to Outhouse Failure.” I’ve asked my webmaster to upload it to my website located at http://www.disabilityclaimssolutions.com. This book is a written cultural history of Unum Life, UNUMProvident, and Unum Group from 1994 to present. It is written as an historical account of not only the company but a history of its claims practices as I witnessed and experienced them. Much of the information is backed up by folders full of paperwork I kept during my employment, letters and client cases I assisted with, as well as experience from managing Unum disability claims for a period of 25 years.
There are people still out there who believe Unum should have had the same fate as Enron, due to its unfair claims practices. Because of Unum’s public fall from grace with disclosures made by 60 Minutes and NBC Dateline programs, Unum was eventually held accountable.
If you are interested please feel free to read the first half of the book that will be located on my website in the next couple of days. If anything else, it will be an amusing history of of an insurance company that began regally, fell from grace, and operates questionably today.
