OK folks. In the last week I’ve received over 35 calls from Lincoln claimants asking me about requests for SSDI files by a third-party paper chaser called Claimify. This has been a Lincoln issue for the last few months and I’ve written at least 2-3 articles about what Claimify is doing and why. In one article I actually described in detail what to do about it.
Despite the fact that everything I write about on the blog is accurate, Lincoln’s claimants, I guess, need to have verbal confirmation from me, the person who writes the articles. It’s interesting that the 35 people who called all have common claim data. For example, most have been on claim for a long time, or are elderly, or are about to reach maximum duration of claim. Apparently, Lincoln isn’t losing the opportunity to “nickel and dime” their claimants while it still has the opportunity to do so.
In several previous articles I’ve explained what to do about Claimify requests. First, you contact the claims handler in writing only that you choose to keep your SSDI information as Private Health Information “PHI” under HIPPA. You also ask the claims handler to contact Claimify to stop its requests and harassment. Finally, you pitch the Claimify paperwork in the trash. Do not try and contact Claimify who doesn’t care what you say or want since you are not the one paying them to make the requests in the first place.
Your policy does NOT REQUIRE YOU TO PROVIDE YOUR SSDI FILE as proof of claim. NO, LINCOLN CANNOT DENY YOUR CLAIM FOR NOT PROVIDING SOMETHING THAT ISN’T REQUIRED BY YOUR PLAN IN THE FIRST PLACE. I think these Claimify requests are driving people to be fearful, which is what they want so you will feel compelled to comply.
Again, Lincoln is just trying to collect overpayments by reducing benefits to $0 to recover. This produces an immediate hit to profit. They are looking to collect “alleged” overpayments while they still can. The reason why they seem to be targeting claimants on claim for a long time is because these are the claims with more likelihood of error or mistake.
Of course, if you need verbal verification from me you can still call, but I’m not changing the information I’ve already given. These requests from Claimify are nothing more than nuisance requests that can be responded to, and resolved with a simple fax to the claims handler. If you have any questions, please call, but Claimify is over and done with a simple fax just saying “NO.” If you need more information do a search from this Home Page for Claimify and find my other articles.
