It’s not unlikely that checks will be late from some insurance companies, and it always makes people nervous especially at this time of year.
What usually happens is that claims handlers go out on vacation, or, take PTO and forget to approve benefits on the system before they leave, Or, claims handlers are so busy processing deniable claims for year-end, they just plain forget to approve the ones that should be paid. This time of the year, late benefit payments are never good,
I recommend, (and this is one of the few times I do this), is to call the company as soon as you know the check is late and ask, “when will the check be released?” Don’t stop asking to speak to someone of authority, so they can for you.
The good news is that benefits ARE NOT denied, someone just forgot to release them.
