This is just a reminder that Unum’s checks are usually late around the holidays. Unum staff celebrates both Thursday and Friday as holidays so information that’s due won’t be seen or processed until the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Not having checks can make it very difficult for families at this time of year, so please be aware that this can happen. Late checks doesn’t mean Unum denied your claim, it just means the company takes no extra consideration in getting checks released to help out during the holidays.
I haven’t noticed any other insurer having difficulty getting checks issued during the holidays. Please be prepared for late Unum checks up to two weeks from Thanksgiving through New Years.
